Theatre and acting camps for kids in San Antonio

San Antonio has a thriving kids' theatre scene anchored by the historic Empire and Josephine Theatres, the long-running Magik Theatre downtown, and a constellation of community-theatre education programs. The Broadway Project at the Empire Theatre is the flagship week-long camp for ages 7–13: instructor-led training in singing, choreography, and acting that culminates in a real performance on the Empire stage. The Hamilton Broadway Experience runs as two distinct Hamilton-inspired weeks at the Josephine Theatre: Week 2 for ages 10–14 (Aug 3–7), and Week 1 for ages 15–18 (Jul 27–31), with Performance and Production tracks plus a Hamilton ticket included.

Beyond the flagship intensives, plan for a mix of vocabulary: 'theatre camps' covers everything from one-week improv workshops to multi-week musical productions. If your child is new, start with a one-week introductory program. If they're auditioning for school plays or want a serious challenge, the two- and three-week intensives at the Empire and Josephine are the right step up.
