Kids' summer camps on the Northwest Side of San Antonio
The Northwest Side covers a huge stretch, from UTSA's main campus through La Cantera, USAA, the medical center, and out toward Helotes. UTSA's youth programs alone make this one of the strongest STEM and academic camp areas in the city, and the Six Flags Fiesta Texas neighborhood has its own constellation of summer sports and recreation camps.
Drive time is the main thing to plan for: 1604 between Bandera and 281 is reliably slow in the morning, and pickup at 3 or 4 p.m. coincides with the medical center shift change. Look at start times carefully. A camp that says 9 a.m. but is at UTSA might require leaving the house at 8:15 from much of the city. Tuition is mid-range; some UTSA-run programs are deeply subsidized.
Distances are approximate, calculated from Northwest center.
